FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU TRAVEL?

I LOVE to travel!  Nothing beats some alone time driving with a good podcast. I am based out of Meadville, PA and will travel just about anywhere.  I request overnight accommodations for distances more than 2 hours away.

DO YOU HAVE A SALON?

I am solely on-site, which means I come to you on your wedding day!  For your trial, you can join me at my studio.

HOW MUCH ARE YOUR SERVICES?

All of my costs are listed on my prices page - take a look!  Once you submit an inquiry, I will create a customized pricing and service guide for you based upon your specific needs.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE ON MY WEDDING DATE?

I sure hope so!  If you fill out an inquiry form including your wedding date, I'll get back to you by the end of the next business day!  You can do that with this link: https://www.honeybook.com/widget/gracie_mae_bridal_hair_198736/cf_id/615bad3d17eded38482e3652

DO YOU HAVE OTHER STYLISTS OR IS IT JUST YOU?

For 6 services or less, I am your sole stylist.  For 7-10 services, I have an assistant stylist join me to ensure a smooth and expedited day at an additional cost of $150.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING BRIDAL HAIR?

7 years, and I have been in business since the end of 2020.

WHY IS YOUR BUSINESS CALLED GRACIE MAE?  I THOUGHT YOUR NAME IS AMY?

I began this business because I love bridal hairstyling, I believe in allowing brides to slow down, and I wanted to be able to put my 3 children (Adam, Lainey, and Lillia) first as a business owner.  I got the name Gracie Mae as inspiration from my daughters middle names - Lainey Grace and Lillia Mae!

IS A TRIAL REQUIRED?

Yes, a trial is required.  A trial is sooooo important!  While many styles are similar, everyone's hair is different.  The trial is a chance for me to truly understand your hair needs, what is important to you, and gives you a chance to look at pictures and request any changes for the big day.  I can also make recommendations you might need like extensions or a haircut to achieve your ideal style.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I BE READY?

Brides usually need to be ready 1 to 2 hours before the wedding.  This is all based upon some important factors - do you want photographs of your getting ready process?  Are you doing a first look?  Are you getting ready at the venue or will you need to travel there?  We can chat through the details and I can help you decide.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

You can make all payments through my booking site Honeybook.  Payment methods include debit, credit, and bank transfer.

WHAT STYLE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

I'm so glad you asked!  There are so many factors to consider when choosing a style.  Some of those include what compliments your dress, your natural hair texture and length, the weather and time of year, what kind of vibe/theme you're going for - I have helped many brides and bridesmaids decide.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO STYLE HAIR?

I allow for an average of 60-90 minutes for the bride, and 45 minutes per additional service.  Even for seemingly simple styles, the right combinations of product will help your hair stay all day and that takes time!  I ALWAYS request that hair is CLEAN AND DRY in order to expedite services, and will sometimes request the hair is prepared in advance to achieve the requested style.

WILL YOU RESERVE MY DATE?

I do not reserve dates without a contract and $300 retainer.

DO YOU OFFER MAKEUP SERVICES?

I absolutely love doing makeup, but it just isn't my baby the way hair is!  I know some amazing makeup artists and work closely with them and will gladly refer you.

I ONLY NEED SERVICES FOR MYSELF AND ONE OTHER PERSON.  WILL YOU STILL DO OUR HAIR?

In order to book, I have a minimum service requirement of the Bride + 3 adults. , or $450 which does not include travel, trial, assistants, or other costs.  If there aren't enough services to meet the minimum amount, you have the option of paying the difference regardless of the number of styles.

ONE OF MY BRIDESMAIDS DECIDED SHE WANTS TO DO HER OWN HAIR. DO I STILL NEED TO PAY FOR HER SERVICE?

The final count is due 6 months in advance. If the cancellation happens after 6 months, you will still need to pay for the service or find a replacement of someone else wanting their hair done.  Thank you for understanding!

HOW CAN I BOOK WITH YOU?

It's easy and just 4 steps:
1. Fill out the inquiry form and give me all the details!
2.  I'll contact you by the end of the next day to set up a consultation if you'd like one, and I'll send you a customized pricing and service guide.
3.  After you review it and like what you see, you can request a contract.  After I send it, your date is reserved for 3 days for you to accept the contract and submit the booking fee.
4.  You're in!!  I'll send you the final booking confirmation once the final step is complete!

DO YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES OF YOUR WORK?

Yes!  I have many pictures featured on my gallery page, as well as facebook and instagram.

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF MY BRIDESMAIDS WANT THEIR HAIR DONE?

I totally get it!  It's uncommon for brides to have a set number right away.  You can take your best guess at the time of booking and we can finalize the number 6 months before your wedding.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?

Once your wedding is within 12-18 months, the sooner the better!  It breaks my heart when brides request services just a few months before your wedding and I am already booked.  Also, my book closes 3 months in advance. (Example: If you're getting married in June and reach out in April or May, I am no longer accepting June clients.)

DO I PAY FOR MY BRIDESMAIDS OR DO THEY PAY YOU THEMSELVES?

Whether you want to gift the services to your bridal party or not is totally up to you!  Most brides do not.  However, all payments must come from you.  If your bridal party is paying for their own services, they can send you payment first and then send to me.
